Educational Qualifications:

An applicant possessing any of the following qualifications shall be eligible for admission to a Ph.D. Programme of the Institute.

(i)

Engineering Stream:-

(a)

Master’s degree (M.Tech/M.E/ M.S.) preceded by a Bachelor Degree in Engg/Tech. in appropriate discipline, or equivalent, with a minimum of 65% marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters of the course), or equivalent CGPA.

(b)

Bachelor’s degree (B.Tech./B.E.) in appropriate discipline, or equivalent, with a minimum of 90% marks in aggregate (of all the years/ semesters of the course), or equivalent CGPA. Such a candidate has to compulsorily clear at least four theory courses of M. Tech. in relevant discipline, as decided by the DRC.

(c)

Bachelor’s degree (B.Tech./B.E.) in appropriate discipline, or equivalent, with a minimum of 70% marks in aggregate (of all the years/ semesters of the course),or equivalent CGPA, and  a minimum of 15 years of regular service in
Govt.  Organizations or teaching Institutes of degree level.

(ii)

Sciences/Mathematics Stream:-

(a)

Master degree (M.Sc./M.A.) in the appropriate discipline, or equivalent, with a minimum of 65% marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters of the course), or equivalent CGPA.

(b)

Humanities & Social Sciences Stream-

Master degree (M.A.) in the appropriate discipline, or equivalent, with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters of the course), or equivalent CGPA.

(i)

Full-time Research Scholar” shall mean a research scholar devoting full time for completing the degree requirements

(ii)

Part-time Research Scholar” shall mean a Research Scholar who in addition to devoting his/her time towards the pursuit of his Ph.D. research programme also discharges his official responsibilities.

Additional eligibility conditions for a Part-time Ph.D. candidate                   

(a)

The applicant should be a regular employee of an educational institute /org and must have completed on the last day of receiving applications, a minimum of two years of continuous regular service in hes parent organization.

(b)

The candidate proves to the satisfaction of the DRC that his/her official duties permit him to devote sufficient time to research.

(c)

The candidate proves to the satisfaction of the DRC that facilities for pursuing research are available at his place of work in the chosen field of research.

(d)

he/she will be required to reside at the Institute for a period of not less than 6 months after his/her registration for the degree. Any stay at the Institute will not be less than continuous two months. (This condition of minimum residence period will be automatically waived off for candidates who are working in Kurukshetra or in ORG/ Educational Institutions located within a radial distance of 200 Km from the Institute).

RESERVATION/ RELAXATION

Fifteen percent (15%) fellowships (of the total sanctioned Institutional fellowships) shall be reserved for Scheduled Caste applicants and 7.5% for Scheduled Tribe applicants in each of the categories of Research Candidates. A total of 3% fellowships, over and above the sanctioned strength, will be reserved for physically handicapped applicants in all the Ph.D. programmes of the Institute put together.

For the SC/ST/physically handicapped applicants, the eligibility requirement of CGPA may be relaxed to 6.25 on a 10 point scale or equivalent, or to 55% marks.

Applications with master's degree in English, seeking admission to Ph.D. English, eligibility equivalent of CGPA may be relaxed to 6.25 on a 10 point scale or equivalent or to 55% marks.
