RESEARCH

The Department has research facilities in various fields of experimental and theoretical Physics. The major fields are:

Solid State Nuclear Track Detectors and Nuclear Track Filters
Nano / Micro Technology
Instrumentation and Sensors
Conducting Polymers
Electrical Properties of Industrial Polymers
Health and Radiation Physics
Radon Mapping

Consultancy is available in Optical Instrumentation, FTIR spectroscopy and Dielectric Properties of cables, Battery Technology, and related materials.

Major Research Equipment

Scanning Tunneling Microscope (STM), FTIR, XRD, US Flaw Detector, EC NDT, Storage Oscilloscopes, Lock-in Amplifier, Colorimeter, Vacuum Coating Units, Digital Electrometers etc. The Department proposes more state-of the -art equipment like source meter etc. Very recently, the department has acquired a Cryogenic system which can provide low temperature up to 50K. The system is useful for research in the field of superconductivity and low - temperature physical properties of materials

Scanning Electro Microscope (SEM) : A major research facility under the TEQIP project has been added to the department.
